What did you do for the 4th of July? Well, on Thursday, July 3rd our Club 0 bible study ladies, their friends and family, and many of our volunteers came together to celebrate the holiday by cooking out and spending time with each other. It was a blast!

The weather was perfect. We met some new faces and enjoyed amazing side dishes and desserts. Thanks to all the volunteers who helped with the kids games. Who doesn’t enjoy face painting and water balloons?!

While we were finishing dinner, Pastor Dave took some time to speak to all of us. He shared about the way that God has called us to love. He referred to the woman who came to honor Jesus by pouring perfume on His feet. The men sitting around Jesus did not like this display. They chastised her, and even Jesus, for it. But Jesus rebuked these men and honored the woman for her loving worship.

This story shows us that a Christ-like love is unashamed. He loves unconditionally and it cost Him the highest price to pour out His love upon us. His desire is for us to follow His example.

If we love Him, we will want to tell the world. We must demonstrate our love for others. Jesus prayed a prayer for all His followers and in that prayer He said that the world would know Him through our love for one another.

1 John 3:18 says “Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.” How well do we live out our faith? Would your love for God and others be visible to a stranger?

I am so thankful to see how many people in the Scarlet Hope ministry are growing in their relationship with the Lord. I hope Dave’s challenge will cause us to live for Christ more boldly and love others more unconditionally.
